Itinerary

Day 1 – June 30, DEPART USA

You’ll leave this evening on an overnight flight to Lisbon from Newark.

Day 2 – July 1, LISBON- SANTAREM – FATIMA

Morning arrival in Lisbon. We will board our deluxe motor coach for a panoramic city tour of Lisbon, the capital of Portugal and one of the most beautiful and historic of European cities. Located on the River Tagus, Lisbon is full of life, color and fascinating places. We see Belem Tower and, the longest bridge in Europe and the impressive 300 ft high statue of Christ the King. We continue to see the church of St. Anthony’s where we celebrate Mass. We then depart for Santarem to venerate the Miracle of the Eucharist. Continue to Fatima where we enjoy a late dinner. Dinner and overnight in Fatima. (D)

Day 3 – July 2, FATIMA – 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE APPARITIONS AT FATIMA

After breakfast meet in the lobby and walk to the site of apparitions for a prayerful orien- tation. We visit the Chapel of Apparitions, the main Basilica complex, tombs of Blessed Jacinta and Blessed Francisco, the Adoration Chapel and the Miraculous Fountain. In the afternoon our bus will take us to the parish Church where the visionaries were baptized and here today we will have our Holy Mass. We will visit the cemetery; their homes in Aljus- trel-perhaps meet their close relatives. We go to Valinhos where we will visit places where the Angel appeared and the Shrine where the Holy Virgin appeared in August, the outdoor Stations of the Cross erected by the Americans and the beautiful Shrine of the Crucifixion built on the highest point by Hungarian refugees. Dinner and overnight in Fatima.(B,D,)

Day 4 – July 3, FATIMA – ALCOBACA – NAZARE

This morning we celebrate Mass at the Basilica and then have time for personal prayer and devotion. After lunch we take a short drive to the monastery of Alcobaca and the fish- ing village of Nazare to see the miraculous statue of Our Lady of Nazare and perhaps have a swim at the beautiful white sand beach. In late afternoon we return to the Plaza for the Solemn Procession of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Dinner and overnight in Fatima. (B,D,)

Day 5 – July 4, PORTO – SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA

We depart from Fatima via Porto where we stop to tour the city and have a visit of the local port making facility. We enjoy a taste of the famous wine before continuing to Santiago where we celebrate Mass, visit the Cathedral of St. James, one of the finest examples of gothic architecture in all of Europe. As pilgrims, we have the opportunity to climb the stairs behind the high altar to visit the crypt where the relics of St. James are preserved, touch the central pillar (Portico de La Gloria), view the ‘botafumeiro’ and admire the wealth of medieval art inside the Cathedral, before visiting the cloister museum. Enjoy a stroll on your own, through the beautiful streets of Santiago de Compostela, the city of the apostle, full of historical buildings and other attractions (before or after dinner). Dinner and over- night in Santiago de Compostela. (B,D,)

Day 6 – July 5, SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA – GARABANDAL – SANTADER

Early this morning we depart for Garabandal. Little has changed in this rural town since June 18, 1961 when four children had an apparition of an Angel sent to prepare the children for a visit from the Virgin. From Jul 2, 1961 sporadically until Nov 13, 1965, the Blessed Virgin visited them, speaking, guiding and confiding secrets of future events. The children reported a promised future miracle at the grove of pine trees on a bluff overlook- ing the village of Garabandal. It will be on the feast-day of a little known martyr of the Eucharist and coincide with an event in the Church. During your stay you will have time for reflection, devotions and follow the Stations of the Cross. Speak with villagers who witnessed the apparitions, attend Mass and bask in the tranquility. Day 7 – July 6, SANTANDER – LOURDES

After breakfast, we depart for Lourdes. Nestled in the mountains stands picturesque Lourdes, the birthplace of St. Bernadette to whom Our Lady appeared in 1858 near the Grotto of Massabielle. We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner before retiring to our rooms for a restful night’s sleep. Overnight in Lourdes. (B,D,)

Day 8 and 9 – July 7 and 8, LOURDES

During the next two days in Lourdes you will have time to pray with your fellow pilgrims from around the world. During your trip you will have an opportunity to: Attend Mass at the Grot- to, watch a video presentation telling the story of Lourdes, and walk in the footsteps of St. Bernadette. See Boly Mill where St. Bernadette was born, and the “Cachot,” an abandoned prison where Bernadette’s impoverished family lived. Join your prayers with those of pilgrims from around the world as you pray for the sick, drink water from the miraculous spring or submerge yourself in the healing baths. Experience Christ’s love as you walk the life-sized Stations of the Cross overlooking the holy Grotto. Kneel in the chapel built on the very rock of the Grotto, in obedience to the request of the “Immaculate Conception.” Evenings are free for optional Blessed Sacrament Procession before dinner. Your role in the universal church will have new meaning as you join the candlelight procession and group rosary. (Candle light procession and group rosary April through October only). Day 10 – July 9, RETURN to USA

In the morning transfer to Toulouse Airport for your return flight home.
